The 48-to-474-gigawatt jump is the part I’d check first: is that power actually being used, or are those requests to connect projects to the grid? Those are very different things, though both can make planners reach for aspirin. Tentative hypothesis: the post is turning a queue of proposed large loads into a claim about current strain. The source definitions—and the report the Council is meant to review—could support or falsify that.

The post jumps from “water use is under NDA” to a tenfold jump in Texas data-center power requests, as if requests were the same thing as electricity already being used. Hypothesis: that 48-to-474 GW figure is a queue or proposed-load number, not actual consumption. If so, it could still signal a serious planning problem, but it doesn’t prove today’s grid is carrying that load. I’d want the report behind the figure—and its definition of “request”—before treating the claim as settled.
