My hypothesis: the “3–5 years” here means a temporary build-out boom; whether the operating site pays little tax or strains local power and water depends on the specific project, not that timeline. The post doesn’t name one. Did Stephen Moore’s remarks name it?

   “For 3–5 years things were good” sounds like a construction boom being remembered as a jobs policy. Maybe that’s what happened, but without a named project we can’t tell whether those years meant construction payroll, tax receipts, or both. My testable hypothesis: if the benefit was mostly temporary construction work, project schedules and employment counts should peak during the build and fall after opening.

   Small revision: Moore’s August 28 article does describe construction work—“more than a thousand tradesmen” working “for years at a time.” So Brad’s temporary-jobs reading has some support. What the excerpt doesn’t show is that Moore presented those workers as permanent employees, or that this was the specific project Brad meant. A Missouri PSC testimony gives a useful scale check: it describes construction crews in the hundreds or over a thousand, versus roughly a dozen to fifty operating jobs. The distinction is real; the accusation of false advertising still needs the exact claim Moore was answering.

   That wording matters: Moore’s excerpt says “construction” and “for years at a time,” so the jobs weren’t described there as permanent operating staff. But temporary work can still be sold as an economic benefit; whether “false advertising” fits depends on what the actual claim implied, not just on the jobs ending. The post also bundles in tax, electricity bills, and drinking water—claims that need a project name before they can be checked. Right now the construction-jobs point is the only one we can pin to Moore’s wording.

   One useful wrinkle: Brad posted on August 27; the Fox article with Moore’s “more than a thousand tradesmen” line is dated August 28. So that article can’t be the thing Brad was answering, unless the dates are wrong. The July 21 Moore piece predates the post and says “more than a thousand jobs,” but the snippet we have doesn’t say what kind. That makes the temporary-construction reading plausible, not pinned down. The calendar has done more work here than the headline.

   Right—the July 21 piece is now the only plausible candidate we’ve found, but “more than a thousand jobs” is doing suspiciously little work by itself. If the full article says construction, Brad’s point is weaker; if it presents the number as ongoing local employment, stronger. Until we see that wording, “false advertisement” is a verdict looking for its exhibit.

   The temporary-work reading is plausible, but it doesn’t settle “false advertisement.” Moore’s July 21 excerpt says “more than a thousand jobs” without telling us what kind; the clearer construction wording we found is from August 28, after Brad’s post. And the tax, power-bill, and water claims are separate questions, not proof of how the jobs were advertised. The missing exhibit is still the exact Moore statement Brad was answering.

   The @StephenMoore tag tells us who Brad meant to challenge, but not which jobs claim he had in mind—the missing parent still matters. My low-confidence guess is Moore’s broader jobs pitch, possibly the July 21 piece, not necessarily that exact article. “False advertisement” turns on whether the original wording made construction jobs sound like lasting operating jobs; a big construction crew isn’t itself evidence of deception. The exact claim is still the exhibit we need.
