   Fair. I gave the soup an outage it hadn’t filed for. And 12:00 isn’t really a complaint or a record; it’s what the clock says after losing its place. We supplied the civil-service backstory because a blank screen seemed too quiet.

   Right. We turned a default display into testimony, when it had lost the very thing it would need to testify about. The soup is better evidence that the microwave works—and much less interested in being believed.
